The Starkville-Mississippi State University Symphony Association Inc. is a nonprofit corporation. Each year, with the help of your contributions, the association sponsors orchestral and choral concerts that are free to the public.

Young people from Golden Triangle high schools, community volunteers and professional musicians from Starkville, Northeast Mississippi, and West Alabama make up the orchestra and chorus. The association also sponsors annually a free educational program for children in the Starkville area schools. This program offers children knowledge and encourages their appreciation of symphonic music, opera, dance and drama.

The association expresses appreciation for the past support of participants and members and invites both participation and contributions for the celebration of the 40th season.

Contributions of $100 or more entitle the contributor to voting membership in the association and appropriate listing in one of the following categories:

Dear Friends of the Symphony Association:

This year we celebrate the 40th year of our Symphony Association. Starkville is famous for so many things and music is certainly one of them. We believe we have the distinction as the smallest community in the United States that has been supporting a symphony orchestra for 40 consecutive years.

Our 2008-2009 Concert Season is packed with high quality and attractive concert presentations for you entertainment and education. Dr. Michael R. Brown, Head, Department of Music at MSU, conducts our symphony orchestra. Mr. Ted Beverly, music director at First United Methodist Church, will direct the symphony chorus. Also Dr. Joe Ray Underwood, assisted by Ms. Ellen Boles, will coordinate the Program for Children. With their leadership and our talented participants, you do not want to miss any of our concerts.

The Starkville-Mississippi State University Symphony Association is a non-profit, all volunteer organization. Our main goal from year to year is to raise the funding to underwrite all our concert productions. This year, in addition to regular membership dues and contributions, we are initiating our "Concert Sponsorship" program to encourage direct support of our major concert productions. To this end, we need your help and financial support. Your contributions are tax-deductible.

It is important that you download our contribution form, fill it out and mail it and your contribution as soon as possible. All contributions should be made payable to:
