Symphony Chorus Fall Concert
Sacred Music: A Buffet of Choral Styles
The Starkville-MSU Symphony Chorus will present its first choral concert of the 2006-2007 season on Friday, November 3rd, at 7:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church in Starkville. The concert program, Sacred Music: A Buffet of Choral Styles, will include selections such as Gabriel Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, Randall Stroppe’s Inscription of Hope, Hassler’s O Sacred Head, Now Wounded, Joseph Martin’s Goliath, Mary Lynn Lightfoot’s Gaudeamus! and David Child’s The Moon is Distant from the Sea. The varied sources of the choral texts and the wide range of choral styles will certainly capture the interest of persons who enjoy choral music.
The Symphony Chorus has been in existence for over thirty years. It is an organization of volunteer singers from throughout the Golden Triangle Region who enjoy singing various types of choral literature. The Chorus is under the direction of Mr. Ted Beverly and is accompanied by Ms. Wendy Payton on the piano. The concert is free to the public and everyone is cordially invited to attend.
